This is a song where I'm sharing my thoughts with my Mom as if she is sitting right next to me. She has be gone at this point for about two years and I really miss talking to her. So I basically decide to start telling her about some of the things going on in my life and my hope that she would be happy with the things I was doing. I also reflect on my sadness for leaving my Dad alone and going to Texas. But my inability to navigate that situation and stay healthy was something I knew my Mom would understand.

My memories of our last couple days together are vivid and show up in the very emotional bridge section of this song. The moment when I could sense that she was looking to the Heavens and knowing that God was whispering to her to come home. It's something that will always stay with me and I was able to capture a piece of it in this song.

This is a rough mix that I did at home. I rushed it a little bit but I wanted to have it available for Mothers Day this year. I hope you enjoy.

Since You've Gone
copyright robrobinsonmusic 2026

It's been a little while
since I've seen your smile
and your eyes, your loving eyes
I miss those calls with you
those forever talks that kept me fine
a little bit in line

But I tell ya I'm doing good
Hope you can see that I'm doing good
I'm right here where I think I should be
I'm doing things that I wish you could see

Can I meet with you tonight?
Can we talk about this life?
Theres so much I wanna say
Ever since you went away
Can I meet with you tonight?

It makes me really sad
that I couldn't stay with dad
but you know, I know you know
well the weather here is fine
but most of all I've got my mind
and I try to be kind

Those are the things I got from you
All the good that came from you
I gotta tell you I still get blue
On the days when I'm missing you
Can I meet with you tonight?

Do you remember those last few day
when we say out in the sun room
as the music gently played
I took your picture
I still have it on my phone
You were looking up to heaven
cause He was calling you back home
It must have been quite a sight

Can I meet with you tonight
Can we talk about this life
There's so much wanna say
Every since you went away
Can I meet with you tonight?
